Welcome!  Thank you for stopping in.  I'm Kristi.  You can read all this hoo-ha or just go to the bottom of this page for prices. : )

First off, a couple of questions for you:

Do you want your child to learn to be safe when she is with her horse or pony?

Are you a 're-beginner,' someone who enjoyed riding as a child and are now in a place to enjoy horses again?

Can you think of a better way to create happy childhood memories than to give your horse-crazy child the gift of riding lessons on his or her own horse? What could be better than to take the riding lessons you've always wanted?

     You can create these memories!

With a little help from me, you and your child create safety awareness at your own barn or yard with your own horse while learning to ride confidently.

I teach beginning English and equestrian safety and confidence through games and challenges tailored to the needs of each individual student.  Lessons are given at the student's stable or pasture on the student's horse, so that the pair can be trained together.  You will find this team training of tremendous benefit to the rider.  Both the student and her horse learn together as a team week after week, thus creating a positive, confidence-building experience!

My background in horses started in the 1970s when I saved up enough babysitting money for my first horse, Phantom, a blue roan grade horse.

It wasn't until the early 80s that I could take lessons.  By then, I was learning to ride English on my three-year-old Egyptian Arabian gelding named Ahmani Pakistan.

It was fun to train him and learn to ride at the same time. Another show horse I had well worth mentioning was a Quarter Horse gelding named Leo Bama.  He was a wonderful and gentle show horse.

Our family had several other horses, too: Shasta, Sassy, and Merrylegs.

In the fall of 1985, when I started my formal education at the College of Charleston, I discovered that the College had an equestrian team! I  joined and schooled under Bob Storey at Storybook Farms just outside Charleston, SC.  Traveling and showing with the Team gave me memories I'll never forget.

After a 5-year stint as a police officer, graduating from the College of Charleston (BA in English and Communications) and then The Citadel [Masters of Arts in Education (Social Sciences)], and marrying an awesome Italian cop (Rodger), I'm back in business.

Currently, I'm raising and training a Lippitt Morgan filly.  Her stable name is Bambam. She is FUN.  Nothing short of the word.  She's also affectionate and loving and sassy.  I accuse her of being much smarter than I am.

On a serious note, every person, instructor and student alike, is constantly learning. Any person or instructor who claims to 'know it all' should be avoided at all costs.  I have recently seen first-hand what a disaster and embarrassment this pronouncement can be.

That being said, I don't 'know it all.'  As most athletes have coaches, I am currently being coached in my own riding. In the meantime, I have kept up with the sport by reading every horse training and riding book that I can get my hands on.    I am a member of two instructor associations: Certified Horsemanship Association and American Riding Instructors Association.

My approach to lessons is a whole-horse comprehension process.  I believe students should learn how to care for their horses, learn safety, responsibility, and honesty.  While I do not tolerate mistreating any animal, I can tell when a student means well and has only made a mistake.

My sessions can be energetic and action-packed with games and relays, or can be calm, quiet and easy-going, all of which are focused appropriately toward specific students.
